1965 Contemporary 427 Cobra S/C
This stunning 1965 427 Cobra was built by Contemporary Classic Motor Car Company of Mamaroneck, New York. It is a faithful recreation of the legendary Shelby 427 S/C Cobra. Contemporary Classic Cobras are widely regarded as some of the most accurate and well-engineered replicas ever produced using molds taken directly from an original 427 S/C (CSX3045).
Under the hood, this Cobra is powered by a freshly rebuilt 1965 Ford 427 FE Side-Oiler engine, featuring DOVE aluminum heads and dual four-barrel carburetors. Power is delivered through a Ford Toploader four-speed manual transmission and transferred to the pavement via a Jaguar Salisbury rear end with a 3.54 gear ratio. Up front, it rides on Jaguar torsion bar independent suspension, giving it authentic driving dynamics.
Additional features include:
-
Smith Gauges and Lucas Switches
-
Halibrand-Style Knock-off Wheels with Goodyear Billboard Tires.
-
Carefully bonded inner panels (front fender wells, floorpans, foot boxes, trunk liner) for a monocoque-like construction
-
LeMans Style 3 1/2 Inch Fuel Filler
-
Tubular Ladder Frame chassis that is integrated into the hood, doors, trunk openings, and cowl for enhanced rigidity
The chassis is a 4-inch OD round tube design, modeled after the original Cobra frame but upgraded with thicker wall tubing. This eliminates the flex associated with original AC chassis designs while retaining authentic dimensions and appearance. Unlike many replica manufacturers that use rectangular tubing and pieced-together frames, Contemporary?s chassis delivers superior strength, reduced weight, and improved handlingall while staying true to the spirit and specifications of the original car.
This is not your average kit carit's a purpose-built, performance-oriented tribute that captures the essence of the legendary 427 Cobra in both form and function.
